Methodology

How we built this comparison

Every figure in this matrix was verified against the vendor's own published pricing page or an authoritative licensing guide, current as of 2026. We record the lowest published full-user list pricein each platform's home currency converted to USD, and we cite the source inline on the expanded detail row for every platform so you can audit it yourself.

Where a vendor publishes multiple tiers (Essentials vs Premium, Base vs Premium, Standard vs Custom), we use the entry tier for the starting price and note the range in the detail panel. Implementation-time ranges come from distribution and mid-market deployment data across multiple partners, because official vendors rarely publish fixed timelines.

Customization and API maturity are scored on a five-point scale based on the extensibility model each platform exposes — open-source access (Odoo), native development languages (X++ for F&O, AL for Business Central, SuiteScript for NetSuite, .NET for Acumatica), and the maturity of the public REST/OData API surface. These are relative judgements, not vendor-published metrics.

What this matrix cannot tell you

List price is the ceiling, not the invoice. Real cost depends on your country and currency, the partner you choose, volume discounts, and — for NetSuite and Acumatica — the platform tier and resource consumption that drive the base fee. None of that is captured here, so treat the starting price as an order-of-magnitude anchor, not a quote.

Implementation cost is the bigger variable and is excluded entirely. A $30/user/month product with a $150,000 implementation can cost more in year one than a $200/user/month product implemented in eight weeks. Fit-for-purpose — how well the platform's industry depth matches your processes — matters more than any single number in this table.

Finally, ERPs evolve fast. Microsoft raised Business Central prices in October 2025 (Essentials $70 → $80, Premium $100 → $110), and partner-reported pricing for NetSuite, SAP Business One, and Acumatica varies by region and bundle. Always confirm current pricing with a partner before budgeting.

Frequently asked questions

Which ERP is cheapest per user in 2026?

On published per-user list pricing, Odoo is the cheapest full-featured option, starting at $24.90 per user per month on the Standard tier (with a free Community Edition and a free single-app tier also available). SAP Business One and Dynamics 365 Business Central follow in the $80–$120 per user per month band, while NetSuite full users start around $99 per user per month plus a base platform fee. Acumatica is the outlier: it does not charge per user at all, using a resource-based subscription (Essentials from about $6,396 per year including up to 10 users, so roughly $53 per user per month equivalent).

Is Acumatica really unlimited users?

Yes — Acumatica licenses by applications, expected usage, and computing resources rather than by named user, so you can add users without buying more seats. The trade-off is that cost scales with transaction volume and resource consumption, not headcount, so it can be harder to forecast than a simple per-seat model. The Essentials edition starts at roughly $6,396 per year for up to 10 users, with typical subscriptions running $25,000–$75,000 per year for mid-market deployments.

What is the difference between Business Central and Finance & Operations?

Both are Microsoft products but target different segments. Business Central is built for small and mid-market businesses (up to roughly a 300-company online cap) at $80 Essentials or $110 Premium per user per month. Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations — now split into separately licensed Finance and Supply Chain Management apps at $210 base or $300 Premium per user per month — targets upper mid-market and enterprise customers with complex, multi-entity operations and global supply chains. Most F&O users need both apps, which combine as a $240 per user per month base-plus-attach license.

Which ERP has the fastest implementation time?

Odoo and Business Central typically implement fastest, at roughly 3–9 months for a standard mid-market deployment. NetSuite runs about 4–10 months and Acumatica 4–12 months, depending on scope and industry edition. Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and SAP Business One can take longer — 6–18 months for F&O in complex, multi-entity rollouts. Implementation time depends far more on data migration, customization, and change management than on the product itself, so treat these ranges as planning guides, not guarantees.

Do these prices include implementation?

No. The starting prices shown are software licensing only. Implementation is typically the largest year-one cost and is billed separately by a partner: common ranges run from about $10,000–$50,000 for a small single-entity deployment to several hundred thousand dollars for a global, multi-entity rollout. Add ongoing support, sandbox environments, and integration work for a complete total cost of ownership.

Why is NetSuite cloud-only and does that matter?

NetSuite is a multi-tenant SaaS product with no on-premise option, which Oracle positions as a feature — it means automatic upgrades, no infrastructure to manage, and a single codebase for all customers. The trade-off is flexibility: you cannot self-host for data-residency or air-gapped requirements, and customization is limited to what SuiteScript and the SuiteCloud platform allow. If on-premise or hybrid deployment is a hard requirement, Business Central, Odoo, SAP Business One, and Acumatica all offer it; NetSuite does not.
