Most common ERP systems for a 20 to 100 person company
Most common ERP systems split into revenue rank, named users, and company-size fit.
Most common ERP systems split into revenue rank, named users, and company-size fit. Apps Run The World estimates worldwide ERP application revenue grew 11% to USD 145.582 billion in 2025, and the top 10 vendors held 31.9% of that estimated total. The rank mixes bank platforms, QuickBooks, and enterprise suites. For a US company of about 20 to 100 people, price Dynamics 365 Business Central and Odoo first. Add SAP S/4HANA or Oracle Fusion when the budget matches a Tier I project, which Panorama Consulting Group's 2023 ERP Report frames as enterprises above USD 750 million in revenue.
In that 2025 revenue table, Microsoft's share is 2.2%, and Business Central is a product Microsoft says is trusted by more than 50,000 small and midsize businesses. Oracle leads the same table at 6.7% with Fusion Cloud ERP, NetSuite, and Cerner in one line. A 40-person shortlist copied from the top 10 will include systems priced and staffed for a much larger company.
What most common means for an ERP shortlist
Three counts get called the same thing in sales conversations.
Revenue share is the August 2026 table from Apps Run The World, covering 2025. ERP revenue there means license, plus support and maintenance, plus SaaS, and the figures are estimates. The top 10 held 31.9%. Other vendors held 68.1%. Our companion page on ERP market share and leaders keeps the longer ranking.
Named user and customer counts are published for fewer products. Microsoft states the Business Central figure of more than 50,000 small and midsize businesses. Odoo publishes who implements, and at what size, on Odoo pricing: companies under 50 employees usually use Success Packs, and companies over 50 employees usually work with a partner. SAP reports FY2025 total revenue (non-IFRS) of EUR 36.8 billion, 110,000+ employees, and 300 million+ subscribers in its cloud user base. The subscriber figure covers SAP's cloud user base, so keep it separate from any ERP customer conversation. For NetSuite, Oracle Fusion, Sage, Infor, Acumatica, Epicor, and SAP Business One, ask each vendor for references at your headcount and your revenue.
Size fit is the count that decides a shortlist. The 2023 ERP Report, from 183 respondents surveyed November 2021 to August 2022, sorts products by customer revenue. Tier I is enterprises above USD 750 million (examples: SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain and Manufacturing, Infor CloudSuite). Upper Tier II is USD 250 million to USD 750 million (Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, IFS Cloud, Sage X3, Epicor Kinetic, DELMIAworks). Lower Tier II is USD 10 million to USD 250 million and usually one industry and one entity (NetSuite, abas, SYSPRO, Acumatica, Rootstock). Tier III is a large set of smaller-company products (examples: Aptean, ECI, ASC). The same sample had median annual revenue of USD 1.5 billion, a median of 6,500 employees, and a median of 350.5 software licenses. Those medians describe that sample.
Cetec makes the headcount point in its own words: "A 20-person aerospace supplier may require more ERP rigor than a 200-person job shop." Industry, compliance, and process maturity can outweigh a tidy employee band. Put the regulated process on the shortlist page before you drop a heavier manufacturing system for headcount alone.
Who shows up in the revenue top 10
The August 2026 table, for 2025 ERP application revenue, reads as follows. Each line is a vendor total. You order a product inside the line, and the products inside one line can aim at very different companies.
- Oracle (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 9.719 billion · Share: 6.7% · What the line includes: Fusion Cloud ERP, NetSuite, and Cerner)
- SAP (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 9.610 billion · Share: 6.6% · What the line includes: S/4HANA, Business ByDesign, and Business One)
- Intuit (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 6.497 billion · Share: 4.5% · What the line includes: QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite)
- Constellation Software (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 5.841 billion · Share: 4% · What the line includes: Vendor total in the table)
- Microsoft (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 3.233 billion · Share: 2.2% · What the line includes: Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and Business Central)
- FIS (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 2.917 billion · Share: 2% · What the line includes: Core banking in this market definition)
- Roper (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 2.861 billion · Share: 2% · What the line includes: Includes Deltek Costpoint)
- Sage (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 2.459 billion · Share: 1.7% · What the line includes: Sage Intacct and Sage X3)
- Infor (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 1.900 billion · Share: 1.3% · What the line includes: CloudSuite LN, SyteLine, M3)
- Workday (2025 ERP app revenue: USD 1.422 billion · Share: 1% · What the line includes: Workday Financial Management)
Source: Top 10 ERP Software Vendors, Market Size and Forecast 2025-2030, Apps Run The World, August 2026. The market total on that page is USD 145.582 billion.
Intuit is third because the category definition includes QuickBooks. QuickBooks is the accounting system many 20 to 100 person firms already run and later outgrow. Keep it in the revenue story. When you replace it, the shortlist still needs a system that posts orders, stock, and vendor bills.
FIS is core banking. Workday's line on this table is Workday Financial Management. Roper's line includes Deltek Costpoint. Constellation's 4% is a portfolio total. A distributor or light manufacturer that needs orders, stock, purchasing, and the close would skip those four on the first demo day.
Microsoft's 2.2% combines Finance and Operations with Business Central. The Business Central installed-base claim sits on a separate Microsoft page, so a revenue rank understates how many small and midsize businesses run that one product.
Wikipedia's list of ERP software packages is a directory. It also names SAP Business ByDesign, Oracle E-Business Suite, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, and Sage 100 and 300. Price those from a current order form and a customer near your headcount. The list of ERP systems by tier is the longer directory. The table below is the decision view.
Which systems to put on a one-page shortlist
Prices below are as of October 2026. Microsoft states that displayed prices may differ by currency, country, and region, and that the checkout price is the actual price. Where a vendor page has no dollar amount, the cell says quote.

Business Central US prices: Essentials, Premium, and Team Members. Finance: Finance pricing. Supply Chain Management: Supply Chain Management pricing. Canadian Business Central list prices on the same date are CAD 108.50 for Essentials, CAD 149.20 for Premium, and CAD 10.90 for Team Members, per user per month, paid yearly, plus tax, on the Canada pricing page. Odoo plan figures: Odoo pricing. Acumatica's factors, with no dollar amount: Acumatica ERP pricing. Tier bands: 2023 ERP Report. SelectHub's size labels were last reviewed 25 August 2026 on The 10 Best ERP Software of 2026. That scorecard is a feature ranking. Analyst-verified products may receive up to a 5% score adjustment after a paid vendor program. The score tracks coverage. This shortlist tracks who the product is built for and what it costs.
Manufacturing on Business Central sits on Premium at USD 110. Essentials at USD 80 is the license to price when you do not run production. A plant that needs production orders should price Premium.
Odoo's Standard and Custom prices are discounted display prices. The discount lasts 12 months for the initial users ordered. The same pricing page shows three USD figures per plan, and it shows USD 24.90 per month for all apps. USD 24.90 is the discounted display figure, and it lasts 12 months for the initial users ordered. Standard and Custom each include all apps for one per-user fee. One App Free is USD 0 for one app, unlimited users, on Odoo Online. Light users are USD 8.90 and are sold through an advisor quote, with limited HR and shop-floor style access. Custom adds Odoo.sh or an on-premise option, Studio, multi-company, and the external API. Odoo.sh hosting is extra.
SelectHub's directory, last reviewed 25 August 2026, lists a start price of USD 6,396 a year for Acumatica and USD 625 per user per month for Oracle Fusion Cloud. Those figures are directory start prices. Acumatica's own page publishes no dollar amount. Ask Oracle for the order form before you treat USD 625 as the price you will pay.
A December 2025 examples roundup places NetSuite and Acumatica with large enterprises. The 2023 ERP Report places both in lower Tier II, USD 10 million to USD 250 million, usually one industry and one entity. Use the tier, then test it with a reference near your revenue.
What 40 full users cost before services
Assume 40 people who each need a full license, one product, yearly billing, and US list or display prices as of October 2026. The totals exclude tax, implementation, data migration, and add-on apps. Microsoft's checkout price can differ from the figure on the page.
Business Central Essentials at USD 80 is USD 3,200 a month and USD 38,400 a year. Premium at USD 110 is USD 4,400 a month and USD 52,800 a year. Team Members at USD 8 is a separate license. Confirm which roles qualify before you count clerks as full users.
Dynamics 365 Finance at USD 210 is USD 8,400 a month and USD 100,800 a year. Finance Premium at USD 300 is USD 144,000 a year. Supply Chain Management matches those two rates on its own price page. A company that needs the base Finance license and the base Supply Chain Management license pays USD 420 per user per month, which is USD 201,600 a year for these 40 people. Ask Microsoft whether a minimum user count applies before you scale the 40-user illustration.
Odoo Standard at the displayed USD 24.90 is USD 996 a month and USD 11,952 for that discounted year. At the USD 31.10 figure on the same plan, the year is USD 14,928. At USD 38.90, the year is USD 18,672. Custom at the displayed USD 49.00 is USD 23,520. At USD 61.00 it is USD 29,280. At USD 76.20 it is USD 36,576. Ask which of the three figures applies after the 12-month discount on the initial users.
Finance at USD 100,800 a year is USD 62,400 more than Essentials at USD 38,400, before anyone configures a workflow. It is USD 48,000 more than Premium at USD 52,800, just under twice that Premium year. The per-user rate of USD 210 is 2.625 times Essentials at USD 80 on the October 2026 Microsoft list. The 2023 ERP Report places Finance and Operations in upper Tier II, a higher revenue band than the products it lists for companies from USD 10 million to USD 250 million. SelectHub puts the buyer's worry this way: "Implementation and ongoing costs add up quickly, especially if you're working with a tight budget."
If the SelectHub directory start price of USD 625 per user per month for Oracle Fusion were the contract price, 40 users would be USD 300,000 a year before services. Confirm that number on Oracle's order form. The directory figure is a question to take into the quote.
Which names fit a 20 to 100 person company
Yes, price these with your own role mix.
Business Central Essentials or Premium, using Premium when you manufacture. The public rates are on the page, the SMB installed-base claim is specific to this product, and a 40-user Essentials year at USD 38,400 is a number a finance lead can defend.
Odoo Standard or Custom. Under 50 employees, Odoo says you usually implement with Success Packs. From 50 employees up, you usually work with a partner. Above 50 users, the estimator says to contact Odoo for an in-depth analysis. Above 250 employees, Odoo says to contact Odoo. A 20 to 100 person company straddles that partner line, so the shortlist decision and the delivery decision land in the same month.
Acumatica, on consumption. The public page says price depends on size of business, deployment (SaaS versus private cloud), extensions, industry edition, support level, locations, transaction volume, and storage. The 2023 report puts it in lower Tier II. Ask for a quote at your transaction volume. If a proposal cites USD 6,396 a year, label it as SelectHub's directory start and ask Acumatica to reprice it from the factors on its own page.
NetSuite, also lower Tier II, quote only. SelectHub labels it medium and large as well. Both can be true across USD 10 million to USD 250 million of revenue. If your revenue is under USD 10 million, ask for customers at your revenue and at your headcount.
SAP Business One, because SAP's own FAQ points small and midsize buyers there. The public page gives a position and leaves the dollars to a quote. Require a written phase price before you book the demo.
Maybe, and only with a reference you can call.
Sage Intacct or Sage X3. They share Sage's 1.7% revenue line. Sage X3 sits in upper Tier II, which is a larger revenue band than a typical 80-person firm. The upper Tier II sentence names Sage X3. Price Intacct from its own quote and its own references.
Epicor Kinetic, or an Infor manufacturing product such as SyteLine, when you run a plant and you can live with a heavier project. Epicor is upper Tier II. Infor CloudSuite is a Tier I example. SelectHub labels Epicor Kinetic medium and large. A regulated process at 60 people can still justify Epicor or SyteLine. Run the Tier I budget test before that name stays on the list.
Leave these off the first call unless a parent, a lender, or a regulation names them.
Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, once you have seen the USD 100,800 and USD 201,600 illustrations. They are common because Microsoft is common. They are a different budget from Business Central.
SAP S/4HANA Cloud and Oracle Fusion, because the 2023 report uses them as Tier I examples for enterprises above USD 750 million. SAP also says the public edition is suitable for midsize companies, and that about 80% of SAP's customers are small and medium enterprises. That 80% figure is SAP's claim on the S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition page. Hold both facts: SAP sells into the mid-market, and the tier frame for S/4HANA is still the large-enterprise example. Business One is the SMB product to price first.
IFS Cloud and Workday Financial Management. IFS is upper Tier II. Workday's revenue line is financial management. A firm that needs warehouse moves and purchase receipts still needs an operating system beside a finance suite.
QuickBooks stays in the account history. It is third in the revenue table because the market definition includes it.
What you pay after the subscription
License math is the part a vendor will put in the first slide. Implementation is the part that moves the cash forecast.
Odoo Success Packs for new customers, at 15% off the first pack, are Starter USD 493 (4 hours), Basic USD 3,060 (25 hours), Standard USD 5,950 (50 hours), Custom USD 10,625 (100 hours), and Pro USD 21,250 (200 hours). Returning-customer prices on that page are USD 580, USD 3,600, USD 7,000, USD 12,500, and USD 25,000. Odoo says 80% of projects within the estimator's scope go to production in 200 hours or less. Odoo also claims a 98% implementation success rate with a Success Pack versus 65% without one, and labels both rates as its own. Odoo's pricing page puts the buyer's question in plain language: "Where can I get implementation services, and how much does it cost?" The same page answers who does the work: "Small companies (<50 employees) usually work directly with Odoo, using Success Packs." It also says "Mid-size and large companies (>50 employees) usually work with a partner."
Scope the pack against your file imports, price lists, and opening stock. A 40-user Standard subscription at the displayed USD 24.90 (USD 11,952 for the discounted year) plus a Pro pack (USD 21,250) is USD 33,202 before hosting, travel, or a second pack. A Custom plan at the displayed USD 49.00 (USD 23,520) plus the same pack is USD 44,770. Odoo.sh hosting is extra on Custom.
Cetec, a manufacturing system with a public rate card, shows what a smaller vendor is willing to print. A standard user is USD 50 per user per month with a five-user minimum. Shop-floor users are USD 25 per user per month. The rate is per user and covers that user type. Support is USD 0 for the community forum, USD 650 per month for the Standard plan (up to 15 hours of phone), or USD 3,200 per month for the Enterprise plan. Expert services are USD 315 per hour for custom automation, training, on-site consulting, discovery, data migration, and custom development. Launch packages are USD 0 for DIY, USD 5,000 to USD 80,000 for Assisted, and USD 50,000 to USD 150,000+ for Managed. Published sample scenarios for established companies run about USD 25,000 to USD 33,000, USD 26,000 to USD 40,000, USD 29,000 to USD 45,000, USD 44,000 to USD 63,000, USD 55,000 to USD 77,000, and USD 85,000 to USD 126,000, depending on the legacy system and in-house expertise. Sources: Cetec monthly pricing and Cetec launch costs, as of October 2026.
The other end of the published range is the 2023 ERP Report. Median project cost was USD 625,000 and median duration was 15.5 months. Slightly more than half of respondents stayed in budget or on the expected timeline. Among those who did an ROI analysis before the project and had been live at least a year, 83% said the project met ROI expectations. Ninety percent of manufacturing respondents realized expected supplier-interaction benefits. Forty-six percent of manufacturing respondents realized expected customer-experience benefits. Of those over budget, the most common reason was underestimating project staffing. The report records the buyer's question: "How many internal resources will we need?"
Median revenue in that sample was USD 1.5 billion and the median headcount was 6,500. USD 625,000 and 15.5 months describe companies near that sample. For a 40-person distributor, put the Odoo pack and the Cetec launch ranges on the spreadsheet, name an internal finance lead and an internal operations lead before you sign, and ask every bidder for a weekly hour count from your people. Ask each bidder to price data migration as its own line.
Flectic runs Business Central and Odoo in phases for companies in this size range: discovery, configuration, migration, training, and support after go-live. See how an Odoo rollout is phased for a company this size. The ERP implementation for finance and operations is the same shape when the shortlist is Business Central or a paired evaluation.
How SAP's two ERPs split the market
SAP's Business One page answers "What is the difference between SAP ERP and SAP Business One?" by position. Business One is the affordable ERP for small and midsize companies. SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP ERP are described as designed for organizations of all sizes. On a 20 to 100 person shortlist, Business One is the SAP row to price.
The S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition page answers "Is SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition suitable for midsize companies?" with a yes, and it carries SAP's claim that about 80% of SAP's customers are small and medium enterprises. A yes on that page still leaves the license as a quote, while the 2023 ERP Report uses S/4HANA as an example for enterprises above USD 750 million in revenue. If a bidder leads with S/4HANA for a single-entity wholesaler, ask for three references under 100 employees and a phase price limited to the year-one scope.
SAP says on that page that the public edition can deliver an initial scope in 30 days or less, with a claimed 50% decrease in implementation cost and a 40 to 60% quicker time-to-value. The page notes that baseline activation time may vary and points to SAP's legal notice. Ask what that initial scope leaves out: opening balances, pricing, warehouse setup, and the reports your bank already receives.
The same SAP page says SAP Cloud ERP was named a Leader in three Gartner Magic Quadrant reports, dated 13 October 2025 for service-centric enterprises, 13 October 2025 for product-centric enterprises, and 27 October 2025 for Cloud ERP Finance. The tier revenue band still sits on the 2023 ERP Report.
How to cut the list to two demos
Work in this order.
- Write the operating constraints on one page: entities, warehouses, currencies, whether you manufacture, and how many people create orders, bills, and stock moves. Cetec's aerospace-versus-job-shop line is the reminder that a regulated 20-person plant can need more system than a simple 90-person trader.
- Price Business Central Essentials or Premium, and Odoo Standard or Custom, at your full-user count, using the October 2026 figures and the discount note on Odoo. Use the ERP comparison for company size and workflows so the enterprise names stay visible and do not become the default.
- Add at most two quote-only names from the yes or maybe rows: Acumatica or NetSuite when you are in the USD 10 million to USD 250 million band and want a second cloud operations system; Business One when you want an SAP product aimed at small and midsize companies; Epicor or an Infor manufacturing line when the plant is the reason you are replacing the current tools.
- Keep Finance, Supply Chain Management, S/4HANA, Fusion, and IFS in the file only when step 1 produced a constraint those products cover and the year-one license illustration still fits the cash plan. A 40-user Finance year at USD 100,800 is the test. When that number already strains the budget, stop the Finance and Supply Chain conversation there, and do not open a Tier I product.
- Ask every remaining bidder for the same four lines: licenses by role, implementation hours, data migration, and your staff's weekly hours. The 2023 report's most common reason for going over budget was underestimating project staffing. Put your team's weekly hours in the proposal before kickoff.
- Demo two systems on your data: a real order, a receipt, a vendor bill, and a close. Ten-feature tours reward the product with the longer menu. Walk the demo through the close your controller files each month.
We implement both Business Central and Odoo for companies in the 20 to 100 person range in the US. Bring the license mix and the constraints page to a call if the Finance row, or a Tier I name, is still sitting next to a budget built for Business Central.
How Flectic can help
Flectic is an independent consultancy that implements both Odoo and Dynamics 365 and earns no vendor quota on either, so we can cut a common-ERP shortlist down to the two platforms that fit a 20 to 100 person company. Flectic sends a written proposal with a fixed price for each phase before work starts. Book a free discovery call with Flectic, or review the ERP selection service for the two-platform comparison.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SAP ERP and SAP Business One?
SAP describes Business One as the affordable ERP for small and midsize companies. It describes SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP ERP as products for organizations of all sizes. On a 20 to 100 person shortlist, price Business One when you want an SAP product, and treat S/4HANA as a separate project with its own references and phase price.
Is SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition suitable for midsize companies?
SAP says yes on the public edition page, and it claims that about 80% of SAP customers are small and medium enterprises. A 2023 industry report still uses S/4HANA as an example for enterprises above USD 750 million in revenue. Suitability in SAP's wording leaves the license as a quote, so ask for references under 100 employees before you hold a demo.
How long does it take to implement SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition?
SAP says the public edition can deliver an initial scope in 30 days or less, and it claims a 50% decrease in implementation cost and a 40 to 60% quicker time-to-value. The same page says baseline activation time may vary. Ask the bidder which opening balances, prices, warehouses, and bank reports sit outside that initial scope.
What is the difference between the Odoo Standard plan and the Custom plan?
Both plans show three USD prices on the yearly view, and the discount lasts 12 months for the initial users ordered. Standard shows USD 24.90, USD 31.10, and USD 38.90 per user per month. Custom shows USD 49.00, USD 61.00, and USD 76.20, and it adds Odoo.sh or on-premise, Studio, multi-company, and the external API. Odoo.sh hosting is billed on top. Both plans include all apps for one per-user fee.
Where can I get Odoo implementation services, and how much does it cost?
Odoo says companies under 50 employees usually buy Success Packs directly, and companies over 50 employees usually work with a partner. New-customer packs, after 15% off the first pack, run from USD 493 for 4 hours to USD 21,250 for 200 hours. Above 50 users, Odoo's estimator says to contact Odoo for an in-depth analysis. Why do Dynamics 365 Finance licenses cost so much more than Business Central?
As of October 2026, Finance is USD 210 per user per month when paid yearly, and Business Central Essentials is USD 80. For 40 full users that is USD 100,800 a year versus USD 38,400, before services. Supply Chain Management is another USD 210 license, and a company that needs both pays for both. What does a first implementation cost when the license is only the subscription?
Budget licenses, implementation hours, data migration, and your own staff time as separate lines. Odoo prints Success Packs from a few hundred dollars to USD 21,250 for new customers, and a smaller manufacturing vendor prints launch ranges from a self-serve setup to well above USD 150,000. A 2023 sample of much larger companies had a median project cost of USD 625,000 and a median duration of 15.5 months. Use that median as the enterprise end of the range, then make each bidder price your file on its own line.
